Separation anxiety in 2 year old causing problems...

My recently 2 year old is having obvious separation anxiety that’s impacting us a lot. He is so independent in his play time like coloring, stickers, toys, using imagination etc he doesn’t even care about us being there. But we drop him off at daycare (a daycare we know he loves and is happy at because he always comes home talking about how he had fun playing with his teacher etc) and you would think he was witnessing our murders he’s so devastated when we leave. And this is new because he’s been going there 9 months and didn’t used to get upset at drop off. He’s inconsolable. And he is having his 2 year sleep regression with it to the point my husband has been sleeping on the floor in his room all week because when he wakes up and sees us gone it’s the same thing. How can we help him? My husband can’t keep sleeping on the floor and we feel terrible every time we drop him off to leave it like that. What worked for you guys and how long does this last?
