Has anyone offered a toddler a pacifier to help wean?

My LO is 15m and I still feed him to sleep for his nap during the day and at night. He goes to daycare a couple of days a week and they put him down ok with patting, etc. in the cot but when I try this he cries and cries. I then tried feeding him to calm and then putting him in the cot but it was the same result. He rejected a pacifier when he was a newborn as he preferred his thumb (and still does). I’m wondering now that he’s a toddler whether offering the pacifier again might be a way to wean him off feeding to sleep? Or has anyone else used any other methods?
