Secondary Apnea at Birth
I delivered my daughter at 37w2d after struggling with high blood pressure. She did not start breathing on her own and had to be resuscitated. They said she had secondary apnea and spent 2 days in the NICU where she did well and we all got to go home together. She was also 8lbs 3oz and 20” long.
Her neonatologist and pediatrician have said she should have no long term side effects, but I’d love to hear from other mamas who had this happen to their newborn. We borrowed an Owlet sock and have been using it religiously just to help with our anxiety.
