Stigma and personal views

C 🖤

Just wondering if, in your eyes, someone could or should be automatically classed as a bad person/parent because they’ve done/are doing something that carries a stigma?

I’m talking just surface information with no context, and not from a legal perspective, just personal.

For example: you have a friend who you think very highly of- they’re always kind and helpful, their kids are polite and well looked after, house is always in good shape, bills are always paid ahead of schedule- y’know just an all round good person. Then, you suddenly find out that they sometimes take recreational drugs- you know no other information on it and have no specific details. You would never have guessed that they do this, and you’ve never had any reason to suspect. Would that person instantly go down in your estimations or would you reserve judgement until you had more context to go off of? Or would you not care at all?

Same for other things to, basically anything that is looked down upon or commonly judged upon.
