Baby ready for food?

Question

My lo is 5 months old and we got the ok at 4 months to start food but I wanted to wait until about 6 months. He is ebf. When I’m eating or drinking something he watches and has started to open his mouth. He but sit unassisted yet but sits pretty good with a little support. My question is how do you know when baby is 100% ready for food? Should I start trying or wait until 6 months like I planned?

My daughter started taking interest when I was eating. She would follow my fork. And was sitting up well with assistance and we got the go ahead from the pediatrician at 4 months. Also, she was starting to get more fussy during the day when she was only having her bottles. Once I started giving her purées, she was back to her happy self.

A good read and guide. We plan to wait until 6 months too even though she’s all over us when we are eating now, she still tongue thrusts and can’t sit unsupported so I’ll give her a bit more time.

My little guy will be 5 months on Monday and he is starting to show he’s ready. With my daughter we got the okay at 4 months but I waited till 5.5 months when she started following food and opening her mouth and mimic chewing. I’ll start on the next couple weeks with my little guy too!
