How old in life to have children?

Question

What do you guys think is the "prime" age in life for a male and female to start having children? Is mid to late 30s to late in your opinion? No judgements on my end, just curious as to what people think.

I wanted to have children at 20, but realized I wasn't ready. I had a lot of growing to do, emotionally, as did my husband. I'm now 28 and just starting to TTC. I feel much more prepared to be a parent and I'm so glad I waited. I would like to have 2 to 3 ideally, spaced by 2 to 3 years. So, I probably won't be done till mid thirties. I'm completely happy with that. My future kids will be better off with a mom who is competent.

Whenever you are ready is the appropriate age. But I'd like to think anything younger than 18 and you're probably not fully ready. Everyone situatuion is different though.

But I personally don't want to be an "old" mom. I already feel like I'm a little behind since I'll be 24 in May. I'd like to have my 3-5 children by the time I'm around 30-32.

I feel like this is old just because I started at 18. My mother had me at 15 and she herself is in her late 30's. She also had her 5th at 36 and my 2 kids are both older than their 1 yr old uncle. But this is just my perspective. No offense to anyone.

I have been with my fiance since I was 14 (6 years now). By 17 I wanted to have children with him. I am now 20 and we still don't have any children. We are getting married this coming April. I will be 21 and hopefully we will start TTC. I would like to be married and financially stable before having children. To answer the question, I think that the only time to even consider having children is when you are able to afford it, you are living comfortably and stably enough to be able to mentally handle kids, and when you are feeling satisfied with your place in life. Ideally, two parents should raise a child, but as long as the child has at least one good and stable parent, things will be fine. I don't believe there is a specific age as to when you should start having kids. I know a 16 year old who has a child with her fiance, they have their own place and they are happy and stable. I also know a 24 year old who was with her boyfriend for only two months before she got pregnant. They have had physical fights in front of their child and they have stayed together, they hit their child over every little thing (legs, arms, head), and she is now pregnant with a second child and has smoked throughout her entire pregnancy. Needless to say, I feel the 16 year old is a better parent than the 24 year old. It really all depends on the situation and maturity, not the age.

My so and I are  34 and ttc #1. I think I was ready when in was about 31 but we needed to take into account our whole  situation not just how we felt emotionally... we have good jobs and a house now and I'm glad we waited. 
I don't think you can put an age to it as that assumes you have met the.father of your children by that age etc. 
Also my parents were older so I never felt pressured to have children earlier.
