Which Way Do You Clean Up Toys?

Mommas with small children, how do you keep the toys picked up in your house? In my house we normally all clean up before bedtime but sometimes I will pick stuff up randomly. I wish my kids would put stuff away before they get something new out but is doesn’t work that way. Lol.

It depends on the age but when my big kids were toddlers, I’d pick up here and there throughout the day and then have them help do a full clean up before bed

As soon as my LO started walking around and getting into things I had the rule that she can play with anything she wants in any way she wants as long as she cleans it up when shes done. 
It took a good year to get it fully ingrained in her, and we had some setbacks, but now when I tell her to clean up she does so. 
Shes currently 2.5 years and I dont pick up after her at all anymore. My husband on the other hand.....🤦‍♀️

We pretty much do the same as you. My sons toys are all in his room in his toy box. He brings some out throughout the day. He mostly plays in his room so we sonr have a ton of toys. Hes 2, so I don't expect him to put away when hes done yet but he helps us put away the toys at bedtime so we are teaching him! Usually we do bath, pjs, snack, clean up toys and bed!

I make them pick up their own toys. They have began to learn that it's easier to pick up toys before getting new toys out because it's not as fun to clean up the mess of toys as it is to make the mess of toys. When all fails I tell them if I clean them up I throw them away. They've definitely learned to clean up after themselves more.

I have my kids help before nap and before bed. I pick up stuff randomly if I'm walking past it and put it away too

I have my 3 year old clean up toys/activities as she finishes with them. She isn’t allowed to get new things out until she picks up the last thing she was doing. I started this around the age of 2. Before that I would usually clean up for her when she was done with whatever she was doing and she naturally started wanting to help. I used to make it a game by singing a clean up song or if we were putting something like blocks away we’d count them as we put them away.

My rule is that after you are done playing with an item, you must put it back in it's spot if you'd like to play with another one. For example, my son has a chest full of legos and one full of cars. It's one or the other and put the other up first before you get out anything else. I love wal mart containers, they are cheap and help us stay organized.
