Can I request a membrane sweep?

I've heard they can do them at 38 weeks and my midwife originally mentioned 38 but from what I've read they are really supposed to be after 39 weeks and my midwife didn't actually offer to do it until 39 weeks. I was only 1cm and my cervix was high when she did it so I doubt it would've been possible or effective at 38 weeks for me.

I requested to hv one the day before my due date if baby isn’t already born and my doctor said yes !! She actually recommended doing it when I turned 39 weeks but I want my baby to stay in for the full 40 ! I don’t see why they would say no if you ask especially since you’re already full term... give it a shot

My midwife said she wouldn’t do it since I’m strep b positive. I was strep b positive last pregnancy and still had them swept. So yeah just depends on your dr.
