How much $$ do you spend on groceries?

My husband and I are trying to make a budget and he gave me $200 to spend a month on groceries. I just feel like that’s not enough, although it’s just the two of us. But we eat at home everyday. There may be a couple times of the month where we don’t eat at home but it’s mainly just at home. So how much do you spend a month on groceries every month?

I spend $200 a month on me and my husband and two kids. I shop at aldi and that’s what makes it really possible.

Much lower prices. They keep things simple and cut overhead costs in many ways. If you have one near you, i recommend checking them out. They sell their own brands, very few big name brands. But the food is great, you can’t go wrong.

Same! It’s me, the hub, our two yr old and a dog/cat. That includes the “extras” like snacks, household needs etc. some weeks maybe 20-40 more depending on sales. Always check the unit price for the best deal though.

I’d say that is enough if you purchase mostly processed foods. But if you are cooking meat, eating vegetables and fruit and having more nutritious meals than $200 isn’t enough. It depends on your lifestyle and diet.

That’s good! I live in the Seattle area and it’s more expensive to eat healthy and organic. We still do, but for a family of three we spend at least 450-500 per month.

We spend about 450 a month for a family of 5 and we make all our own meals. Meats veggies ect . I don’t typically buy a lot of processed foods . SoOo I strongly believe that it is based on where you live and shop!

For myself, my husband and my 2 year old, we average about $175-$200 per week. We can save more if I go to BJs and get big packages of chicken and use my food saver... but I don’t always get there. Most of our money is spent on meat and produce.

$200/ month only gives you about $50 a week (on 4 week months). Idk where you live... but I can get next to nothing for $50. If you’re trying to save money, look at the circulars and buy when things are on sale, use coupons where you can... and the biggest thing is Meal prepping. Before you go shopping, write down what you are having for meals during that week and only buy the items needed for those meals (and then you’re essentials). That way things aren’t being purchased and just going to waste.

I shop the sales, I use coupons and take advantage of the rewards program our grocery store has! My cabinets freezer fridge is always stocked! I always make sure to take inventory of every thing I already have in the house so I don’t buy extras of what I already have, I get a rough idea of the meals I want to make threw out the week. I typically shop fresh foods by what is in season. If you buy out of seasons items they cost more. I’m pretty budget aware.

Just on food for my husband and I is about 600+ a month. Our grocery store is stupid expensive because it’s the only one within an hour drive. If we go to a larger city and go to the cheaper grocery store it’s about 400 a month.

Same we live in a rural area so our grocery store is the only one around and the upcharge is crazy. For example I formula fed my first and at our store it was $49. If we rode an hour away it was $38.

Same, but it’s five of us (me, husband, and our 8, 5, 2). We do a lot of fruits/veggies and try to avoid a lot of processed foods and eat healthy, so it’s a lot more expensive. Our meats come from Whole Foods and then the fruits/veggies come from HEB. I seriously thought 600ish was the norm. I remember my mom always spending around that monthly and everyone I know now does about the same.

Way too much. Probably like 200 every 2 weeks / give or take. We also have diapers/formula. It’s my partner, myself and our 21 month old & 5 month old. We are horrible at coming up with meal plans. I’m bored with all the meals we’ve been eating. We eat out entirely too much. I do cook meals from scratch but it’s super hard with two babies. Plus our oldest is at the picky stage so we just keep buying stuff to try. And one week she’ll eat something and one week she won’t. 🤦🏻‍♀️ it’ll get easier when they are a little bit older- at least that’s what I keep telling myself.

It’s just so much easier to eat out then spend like an hour cleaning cooking prepping blah blah
