Tampons

I have been using pads during my period well I seriously smell really bad so I decided to try tampons again. When I say again I mean I tried them for the first pp period and they hurt so I stopped.

I am now almost 9 months pp and tampons are still uncomfortable. It’s not painful to put one in but the whole time it’s in it just feels scratchy :( I have a regular flow so I doubt it’s due to there not being enough fluid to absorb.

I’m worried something is wrong :( Bc it also hurts to pull it out.

Is this somewhat normal? Should I see a doctor?
