Is it bad to lie to about have a ged or diploma ?

So when a job asks if you have a ged or diploma is it bad to lie and say you do? Or to lie if it’s a requirement? One of my friends recently told me she did.  I’m curious if they can even tell if you really do or if you can get into trouble ?

They can terminate you if they find out you lied if it’s a requirement. However, my husband has always selected yes to the GED/Diploma question even though he didn’t finish his last semester of high school. He even worked for the post office for a few years and they didn’t say anything. His current company hasn’t said anything either. Just depends on the position and how important it is to them. She just needs to know that they could terminate her if they find out.

You can get into trouble, but I don't feel bad of people lie to companies earn a living. I'm for the working people, and I know it's hard out there, the system isn't necessarily fair. 
I'm currently starting a business, and when it comes to me being able to hire anyone in the future, I'd say your actual job performance and ability to reliably follow directions and make clients happy is way more important.

I don’t think it is and I’ve never been asked for proof of my education. I say I have a high school diploma instead of ged and I’ve never been asked for proof lol
