Would You Be Upset?

Question

Yesterday my mom said something to me that I can’t stop thinking about... she told me that she loves my daughter more than she has ever loved me or my siblings.
It reminded me of the time when I was a kid she made a comment that she loved her sister more than anyone in the world and being a kid I asked “you love her more than me?” and she said yes. Then I said “I thought moms were supposed to love their kids more than anyone else” and she just shrugged and told me I couldn’t understand.
Now that I have kids of my own I definitely don’t understand how she could feel that way and say that to me... And I don’t understand why she told me she loves my daughter more than she loves me. I just can’t stop thinking about it. Of course I want her to love my daughter! But I didn’t think she would love her more than me and then straight up say it to my face...
Would you be upset if your mom said that to you? Or am I just overreacting?

I personally wouldn’t be upset if my mother loved my kids more than me but I would definitely be upset that she would love her sister more than her own children

In all honesty I think they should love you the same, however it’s a different type of love. They get all the perks of a child without having to raise them lol. Grandparents can spoil the kid then hand them back to the parents lol. I would be hurt just for the simple fact that she is saying she loves them more in essence downplaying her love for me. Also, for her to tell you as a kid she love her sister more? Crazy!

I understand the feeling but in a different way. My mother told me she loved me and my son  more than my 8 year old brother. I'm 22. It made me sick to my stomach and made me see her in a totally new light

It sounds like your mom is super insensitive. My mom is the same way. It's like she's totally disconnected from the world... she's in her own little world and everyone else is just living in it. And then when you bring it up to her and explain how the things she says genuinely hurt you she shrugs it off and basically tells you that's your problem. I'm currently ttc #1 and I'm literally petrified of having a baby girl because I'm scared I will end up the way my mom is. I know I have learned so much from all my mothers wrong doings and would never do the things she does or say the things shes said to me to my daughter but it's always in the back of my mind. It sucks so much because who would ever think that asking your mother to love you would be too much to ask for???? I'm just letting you know you're not alone.💕

I love my sister more than my kids. They stress me the f out. But I'd toss myself to zombies for my kids not my sister...she lived longer sooo.... Ya thats how I see it.
