Told my boyfriend I loved him

So I told my boyfriend I loved him after a year of being together. I was so scared because I know he doesn't express his feelings as easily as I do. He told me that this was such a complicated word and that he feels a lot of things for me but he is really scared to put them into words. Keep in mind that we are in a long distance relationship and that we travel a lot to see eachother. That means that we have sacrificed many things to be together and it seems natural to me that traveling 5 hours is an act of love. When we are together I definitely feel loved and cared for. That being said I'm really confused. What are your thoughts?
