Heavy periods

I’m on my second day of my period and is it normal to go through a heavy tampon/pad in 1 hour on your first or second day? And I keep getting blood clots but they aren’t really big. When I was sitting doing work at home I was wearing a heavy pad I bled though that and my under and then the towel I was sitting on is that normal? it took about 1 hour and about 30 mins. I haven’t had a lot cramping .I’ve haven’t had my period for long so I’m a little confused about it.
