Is this appropriate? Or poor parenting?

I have a stage 5 clinger 7m old baby and 4 year old twins. The 4 year old twins are amazing kids and can entertain themselves during independent play very well. When I’m putting the baby to sleep, I let my twins play on their own (read, fold laundry, watch a show, or have quiet play). 
It is so hard to get my baby to sleep or nap, so this is a routine I’ve fallen into. But I feel so guilty leaving my older girls alone during the 1/2 hr it takes to get baby to sleep! Am I being irresponsible? How do other mommies do nap time for baby?

They’re 4? I see no issue with this. It’s a big myth that you have to do activities and schedule out your kids day all day every day. Independent time is good fo kiddos!

As long as they are well behaved I don’t see an issue. Have you tried some sleep training with baby though? My daughter was terrible at falling asleep until we did it.

As long as they’re safe, independent play is very good for them! And they have each other to play with as well. They don’t need to be entertained 24/7...it’s good for them to use their imagination and come up with their own games or even just have some quiet time. If this is the schedule that works for you, then don’t worry about it! Your baby will likely shift schedules eventually and you’ll all have to adjust again, and that’s ok! Don’t be so hard on yourself.

I leave my 1 and a half year old twins to play in their room (completely baby proofed) so I can do housework. There's nothing wrong with it.

I don’t see an issue and you are giving them appropriate things to do independently and cooperatively! I think it’s great! Plus it’s only thirty minutes not HOURS left “alone”... you are doing great mama
