Can I dye my own hair?

I’m biracial (black and white) and I have very curly and dark hair. I’ve tried to dye my hair in the past and it turned out awful. I know I would have to bleach it to make the color stick.
I want to go burgundy, do you think this color is realistic for me to obtain by myself?

you definitely don’t need to bleach it. look into l’oréal hi color reds with a 30 volume. i’d get a good deep conditioner for after too. and just a warning red has to be retouched every 2 months it takes a very long time for the color to permanently deposit

Please don’t use box dye, it will ruin your hair over time and the chemicals in it are harsh for your hair! 😬

Okay so it depends.
Is your hair, from root to tip, completely virgin?
If you have any dark color in your hair whatsoever, it will not be even. 
Color, does not lift color.  So if there is any color in it at all, wherever the color is, it may not lift to that red. You could have "hot roots" ( bright red roots, heat from your head makes the color process more and also the virgin hair at the root will give the true lift...then where old color is, it'll stay dark- if it was colored dark.)
If there's NO color, then none of that applies to you. 
I do second buying/ordering from Sally's. It is much better on your hair.. but you'd need to do some research on what strength developer to get, and what color needed to achieve what you want based on your current level of hair and what ( if anything) is on your hair already. You may need one formula for your new growth and a different one for your midshaft and ends, to get an even result.

I also second the L’Oréal hi color lift in red. But keep in mind you may need to do the process twice to achieve this color. Buy two sets. Apply the first one about an inch and a half away from your roots. A few days later apply the 2nd one all over to your hair because the roots will brighten much faster and lighter. I also did this a few years ago at home and my hair was the same shade as yours is now. It came out perfect with this application.

I would order from Sallys Beauty Supply in-line, I did a ombré on my own hair using their products, it’s way better for your hair than box dye

Don’t do it. If you don’t apply it correctly it can come out spotty or even damage you hair if you don’t know what you are doing.

U can with box dye i have coarser hair then u and have achieved darker than that color but same burgundy tint
