Why labels ?

I really want to understand, I truly do. I get the LGBT part, but now there's a lot more ancrynoms(?) added to it and I'm so confused. For example Demisexual is only being sexually attracted to someone you have a deep connection with first, but why label it as an actual word like Demisexual? Why not "I just don't feel attracted to anyone I don't have a strong connection with" why have all these labels for things that are just preferences. Yes, I understand 100% that this sounds ignorant, because I am ignorant when it comes to this, but I want to understand.
(P.S I'm not trying to be offensive in any way, I truly want to understand)

It's not common to ONLY be sexually attracted to people you have a deep connection with. Most humans have a sexual urge that is ignorant of who we connect with emotionally. So that may be why "demisexual" came to be a term, because it's uncommon, and as it was said above, no one wants to have to explain all of that. It's not as if the labels are for people who are attracted to men with brown hair. Or a label for people who are attracted to women with long legs. It's sort of an identifying sexual orientation label that's broader than it appears.

Why do we call a table a table. Words make communication easier. We can express to others what our sexual orientation without the long complicated explanation you offered. Can you imagine having to say that all the time as opposed to just demisexual?

Labels are a great way to find a community of people with similar experiences. This could offer you support, or even teach you better ways to handle the issues you face that are specific to whatever makes you unique. It's the same reason we have names for races, or genders - like why this is primarily women's app (to create a community of people who identify as women + those who don't but deal with uteruses).

As human beings we are trying to figure out how fit into the world. Doing this involves us to subconsciously and consciously place other people and ourselves in to categories often with the help of labels to try and figure these things out.

News flash you dont have to identify as any of these or even involve them in your life if you dont want to. If people want to then let them and just ignore it. In all honesty i dont like some labels that much but i always respect a person if they choose to use them
