Hardest thing as a first-time mom?

What’s the hardest thing you have dealt with as a first-time mom?  Doesn’t matter what stage you are in, pregnancy, new mom, mom of toddler or older kids.  What’s the one thing that really sticks with you that is or was a struggle?

Newborn sleep deprivation, hands down. Haha. It’s the one thing that makes me question if I can handle a second one. But, it’s temporary. I just really like sleep. 😂

For me it was the shift in lifestyle in general. You go from it being just you and your husband, doing what you want when you want to a complete shift where you arent free to do what u like anymore. Dont get me wrong, it was completley expected and it passes in short order, but when the shift actually occurs it is a bit jarring.

Anger. I've had to work really hard over the years to gain patience and learn to be gentle with my child. It seems like it shouldnt be hard to be kind to such a sweet little person but it really can be. I've come such a long way and I'm so proud of my progress. My second child who will be born soon has my first child to thank for taking the worst of it so they don't ever have to deal with my anger.

Sleep deprivation and postpartum depression/anxiety. Breastfeeding with bleeding nipples doesnt even compare to how you feel after you've lost a years worth of good nights sleep.

Postpartum depression and anxiety while sleep deprived and a baby that had reflux and colic and screamed non stop for the first four months while mourning the life my husband and I had before where we could do anything whenever we wanted.

My biggest struggle was losing my independence after having my first. I was use to just going where ever I wanted, when ever I wanted....then everything obviously changed when I had her. For a while I felt like I lost myself. Thankfully since then I’ve adjusted! My second biggest struggle was going through some baby blues and PPD with my first, I was in such denial and honestly thought I was losing my mind. I overcame that also, but it was an uphill battle for a while.

Sleep deprivation, loss of identity (feeling like I'm just mum, not me anymore...I don't know who I am if I'm not mum), postnatal depression, the anxiety!!! Oh lord the anxiety! It's paralysing. But nothing could EVER come close to the love you feel. Words can't describe.
