Is space the same as wanting to break up?

Me and my boyfriend are housemates so we live together, which complicates things as well as there being a lock down.

I've been having issues with him eating all my food and it pushed to a point I had ago at him about it. He said he understands, so I thought that was it. I bumped into him in the hallway as I was going out to do shopping. We briefly spoke and he asked where I was going. I said out because I was still annoyed with him.

Then a while later he randomly texted saying he wanted space. We hadn't even seen each other much and he wants space.

The thing is we hardly spend time together, he's always on his phone or in his room. He has space all day, even majority of the night.

Which is why I'm feeling like this relationship is over or am I overreacting
