Safe for Sleep?

I’ve been looking for a bedside bassinet that attaches to the bed for while now. I keep getting worried when I see that it’s not mesh the whole way down to the bottom. Someone told me their pediatrician said that if it’s something for sleep, like a crib or bassinet, it has to be safe for them to actually sleep in and it would be okay. I still don’t understand how if a baby turns their face into it, not having it totally mesh on the sides is safe. This one popped up today with a ton of great reviews and the whole side is closed. Is this actually safe? Do you have a recommendation for one that is if this isn’t that won’t cost me $300? I really like this as it actually attaches to the bed and the one side folds down so it can be like a bedside cosleeper and it has 6 different heights.

We had this exact one...we love it! For me it is so much safer than a moses basket which are so common in the uk...it also has one whole side that isn't mesh 🤷🏼‍♀️

Looking at the picture, it looks like the mattress is even with the mesh, and the gray is below the mattress. I can’t even fathom that it wouldn’t be anything but that.

We have the halo which is all mesh except the ends, my baby’s face has never been up against the ends so that didn’t bother me. He does end up with us face against the sides though almost every night no I’m glad that was all mesh.

Graco makes the Travel Lite Crib, which is a closer to the size of a bassinet than a full size pack n play. It has three levels to use as baby gets bigger/older and can be used until they are 35 inches just like a normal crib. 
We had a bassinet originally and I wish I had save my money on that and just bought the Travel Lite from the beginning.

We loved our BabyBay!!! It's like a mini crib that attaches to the side of the bed with one side totally open. They have them in hospitals here in Germany.

It looks fine to me. Like another person said I think the grey part is where the mattress sits. If you are looking for a cheaper option, my daughter slept in a pack n play for the first 6 months of her life and it worked great.

Another option would be to get a convertible crib and only install 3 sides. Push the open side up to your bed and make the mattress height flush with your bed. That's what we did. Worked great and you can use it as a toddler bed when their ready as well as convert it into a full size bed for the spare room years later, use it for another baby,  just sell it.
