Avoiding mean comments from grandparents

I’m just so tired of toxic masculinity causing boys to be insecure of all their actions. My step son is 6 1/2 and I do my best to encourage him to do what he likes regardless of gender He’s growing out his hair because he wants to look like his dad. Today after his bath I pulled the top part of his hair into a bun to keep it out of his face. I think this a normal hairstyle for a lot of little boys with long hair but my dad the second he saw my step son said “eww get that out of your hair! That’s disgusting. Boys can’t wear there hair like that!”

I’m so appalled by this type of behavior. He’s 6. What kind of grown man thinks it’s okay to insult a child on his appearance. I mean for heaven sake my husband has the same hair style.
