Adipex addiction?

My husband has been taking Adipex for about three months. He’s lost 30lbs and says he wants to take it for one more month to lose 10 more. But he’s been out and not able to go back to his dr for a couple days now. Today he went into a rage telling me he doesn’t wanna be with me or have a baby with me. All because I had to come back and out my swimsuit on when our friends were clearly saving our spot In line at a river. He’s been lashing out making everything my fault when he’s got something going on. Is adipex withdrawal a thing?? Because this is killing me 😢😢 he won’t listen to me but expects me to take the mean comments. My heart hurts so bad.

He had no right to say those things to you. I am sorry. Yes, Adipex addiction is a thing. I was on it for a year and a half and suddenly went cold turkey (doc didn’t warn me there’d be withdrawal symptoms). You are not supposed to be on it long term like I was. A few months is ok, I’ve read 3 months is the usual time frame doctors give people on it. Some up to 6 months — and of course some longer like my doctor did, but it wasn’t good for me. I was hard core addicted and when I suddenly stopped I was raging. I am a counselor at a school and a literally screamed at my principal and used foul language because I was so stressed and didn’t know I was withdrawing  . Once I figured it out (a week or so later) I apologized to him ￼profusely and it never happened again- but man, a couple of weeks were hell for me when I first got off it. 
I’ll never take it again. It made me feel to great and when it got taken away my body was not having it. Terrible withdrawal for me.

Adipex is powerful stuff and can absolutely cause withdrawal and rage. It can be very dangerous to abruptly stop a medication like that- it’s a serious stimulant.

I have taken that medication on and off for a year. I have never gotten into a rage or experienced withdrawal symptoms. I would say it increases my anxiety but I’ve suffered from anxiety since forever. Anyways, have him talk to his prescribing doctor about the medication to see what can be done. Last time I checked I do not remember seeing the side effects of saying hurtful words and being an Asshole. Regardless of the effects one must take responsibility for their actions.

Yeah I would be careful and hopefully it doesn’t rage out like that again . That is tough to deal with !
