Can u be sued for leaving a bad review on Facebook?

Long story short- I left a review of this business on Facebook that was dishonest with me about their services. I shared my experience as a warning for others. The owner then texted me saying she will be filing slandering charges against me this afternoon. Is this true? Should I get a lawyer? I only shared my experience and encouraged others to get things in writing with her before using her because she doesn’t have a contract. Thoughts?

I mean anyone can pursue a lawsuit for anything. But that doesn’t mean it will be found credible. So yes, the process CAN be started. But it will probably just end in her wasting money on a lawyer and legal fees. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think it’s a scare tactic. I’d be posting her messages under my original post. But I’m petty like that. 😂😂

It isn’t slander if it’s true - if she was dishonest in her business practice she can’t do anything. Sure she could try I suppose, but it won’t go anywhere

Leaving a review is protected under the First Amendment, so a negative review left behind is fine. The issue is if you lied in the review, then the courts would view it as defaming a business.
She’s trying to scare you into taking down the review.

Yes she can file a claim but there is no way she would win for slander if you were a customer and gave an honest review. I would leave another review with a screen shot of her threatening to sue you lol.

I said yes just bc you can if it's not an honest review. However, I haven't really heard of it happening and it's highly doubtful a lawyer will take her own without ebooks of her having a good case. Plus, it would cost more on legal fees than what she'd actually get out of it. It's just a scare tactic.

Well... You need to know about your countrys practice.
But, yes usually you can sue for everything. That doesn't nessecaryly mean they win.
Leaving a review that is honwst and doesn't insult anybody, is allowed. It is free spewch. Like if the review is nasty, like maybe insultung people working there, well, that is a review that is not appropriate but if you just describe how it was, then it is perfectly ok.
