Infection? Stitches from tear

I had a second degree tear. In 2 days pp so it’s still fresh, but my blood/liquids coming out smell so bad. I am wondering if I could possibly have an infection from my stitches? Or is it normal to have it be smelly?

If it smells bad drift would call your ob. My ob told me that’s a sign of infection.

It's an infection.. I had exactly the same.. I got antibiotics and it cleared within 2 weeks.

What does bad mean? PP bleeding smells different from period bleeding, it’s definitely worse.

I had a second degree tear and a labia tear. Three days after being home I had a weird smell too and called my doctor. I ended up having two infections and needing two antibiotics, so I would call just to be on the safe side. Infections can cause sepsis if they go untreated! Also make some padsicles for your tear, it’s seriously a game changer and much more comfortable than a normal dry pad!

Lochia doesn’t smell like the period blood you’re used to, so it could be normal or it could be an infection. Probably best to call.
