Late period

So my period is about 5 days late (I’m 16 btw) and this is the first time it’s ever been this late and no I’m not sexually active at all but I’m scared. I wanted to wait and see if it would come by the end of this week but I’m scared it won’t and I don’t want to tell my mom cause she will jump to conclusions cause she did before. Is there anything that would help comfort me? Like is this normal for people my age? because my period usually comes in the first week of the month and it’s not.
