Newbie advice?

Question

I just had a meeting with my doctor today and he said he wants to start me on IVF in 2 months if I'm not pregnant. (TTC 2 years in August) he didn't have time to tell me anything about it, but made it all sound fairly simple. I've always had the idea that it's actually totally shit to go through. Feeling really confused. Can anyone tell me what happens, symptoms, anything??? Feeling totally lost

I had all Infertility testing done by my gyno prior. She sent all info to my fertility doctor and they just ran a blood panel and did an ultrasound and then a mock embryo transfer beforehand. 
It’s sort of a lot, but manageable. You take stims (mine was 2 shots each night) to get your ovaries going. I went in 3 times that week for bloodwork and ultrasounds. They then added a new shot to stop ovulation. I went in 3 times again the next week for monitoring. Then I had my trigger shot. 36 hours later I went under for the egg retrieval (and that’s when I started progesterone suppositories and estrogen pills) and then 5 days later was my transfer. 
Maybe it felt crazy too because my local office is still closed for covid so I had to go to the 2 main offices which are both an hour away for everything.

Did they run any tests on you and your husband? What will be the reason for infertility? Many doctors will advise to try IUI first, before jumping to IVF.
