Do you think 4 day workdays would be a beneficial change to standard workplaces (USA)?

So a few articles have come out recently, especially being popularized since a good amount of people have been working from home this year. Naturally, this is only applicable to mainly offices, or places which go by the standard Monday-Friday schedule, and would not apply to first responders, medical workers, food & beverage/hospitality, etc. (however many first responder and medical employers deliberately arrange schedules so these employees work longer shifts/less days to help combat stress and avoid burnout).

In your opinion, do you think this would be beneficial? I’ve heard a few schools of thought - same amount of hours, shortened work week - so instead of 8 hour days, 5 days a week, it would be four 10 hour days. Another, is simply shortening the workweek and not extending daily hours. However, for hourly employees, keep in mind that would affect your pay. Salaried employees would benefit the most pay wise, but also the same amount of work would need to be done in less time.

So what are your thoughts? The overall goal of this idea I believe is considered to be increase employee happiness and productivity.

Other countries (like Sweden) by law mandate employees have 25 days of vacation a year - at least. Which is about 5 weeks, as opposed to in the USA many employees get 1-2 weeks, accumulate hours off as they work (PTO), or may not get any at all, especially if they a new employee in their first years at a company.

Personally, I think changes do need to be made to the USA workforce. I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts!
