anemia ?

after taking my glucose test , they called me with the results and told me i have anemia. they said i need to take otc supplements twice a day . do y'all have any recommendations?

I’m on ones prescribed by my doctor. She had not to take them at the same time Of day as my prenatals because the calcium can cancel out the iron.

I was told to take vitamins c at the same time as my iron. Apparently it helps with the absorption 🤷🏻‍♀️ they also taste delicious lol

My midwife also says to try and avoid caffeine and dairy within an hour before and after taking your iron. They can affect absorption and make them less effective.
I take mine before bed, 2hrs after any food. I also take fibre supplements (metamucil, here where I live) to help counteract the constipation.
Expect some changes to your bowel movements and if you’re struggling with hard stool increase your fibre and water.
I was also told it takes about 6 weeks to see consistent results after using supplements so wait about that long if you intend to retest your iron.

My doctor told me the same thing.. she told me to get these brand VITRON C , SLOW FE , FERGON and to get them with fruit to help with constipation and don’t take it with your prenatal pills that’s what my doctor told me ￼￼

I would reccomend any slow release iron pills vs regular iron pills. That way you don't get constipated
