Advice...

Update

So my mom got in contact with my birth mother and was asking her for any information that she could remember about my biological dad. Unfortunately the man I had thought might be him was too you g to be him by about 10 years. So I’m back to square one with nowhere to look because my bm couldn’t remember where he was from or any useful information to find him. I’m so disappointed because I have looked at this one mans Facebook for years and tried to make myself work up courage to message him only to find out I had the wrong person. I’m just glad my mom has been there with me when I needed someone to talk to about it and that she’s willing to help me find out anything she can...

I’m not exactly sure where to look for this advice at so I’m going to start here. I’ve been struggling with how to handle this situation for a long time and it doesn’t get easier. I was born from an affair. I was then adopted at 6 months by my birth “mothers” sister and husband who I call my parents obviously. I know my birth mother but I’ve never met my biological dad. When I was around 15 my birth mother told me my biological dads first name and said she couldn’t remember his last name. So I left it at that. A few years ago she finally told me his last name. I’ve since then looked him up on social media although I’ve still never spoken with him. The issue I’m having is I want to find out if he actually is my biological dad but I also don’t want to potentially break up a family if I was never known about. As far as needing a father figure in my life this is not what it’s about because my dad is the man who raised me and was there for me all my life and I would never change that. Sorry if this isn’t the place for this but I’m just having a hard time trying to figure out what to do
