My little man is here!! 💙 (labor & photos) *graphic warning*

After a miscarriage in the beginning of October, I immediately got pregnant again within the same month. I found out in February I was having a BOY (I have a 2 year old daughter) and I was due July 31st. The days before the 13th I had been slowly losing my mucus plug but didn’t think anything of it.

Fast forward to Monday, July 13th I took my man to work at 8am because at the time we only have one working car and I had a doctors appointment at 1:30 that day. I had been having slight tightness in my belly the day before but I never thought they were contractions and was able to sleep through them. I was induced at 36 weeks with my daughter so I had no idea what natural labor would be like.

After dropping him off and coming home with my daughter, the tightness continued and slowly progressed into more painful lower belly contractions. I really tried to wait until my doctors appointment but soon realized that wasn’t going to happen. I called my OB office and was told to lay on my side and drink water as I was only 37+3 and the nurse thought I might just be dehydrated.

I tried that and the pain continued to the point I was having to stop and be still and do nothing other than breathe. At that point my contractions were between 4-6 min apart and lasting 1min each. I decided to call my aunt to come over to stay with my 2 year old and she arrived around 10:30. I *thought I had time to shower but by the time she arrived, contractions were becoming closer together and I knew I needed to go get my man and head to the hospital 45min away. I finished packing my hospital bag (slacking I know🙄) and thought I would be able to drive myself to pick up my man 10 min away but that was a HARD NO 🙃

My aunt loaded my car up with my toddler in tow and hospital bag and we go to pick up my man. We got him at 11:30 and started the drive to the hospital. I was in the back seat squeezing the shit out of the seats in front of me on the way there. It seemed like the contractions were progressing fast!!

We get there at 12 and I head inside after kissing my daughter and was pausing in the halls as each contraction came. I was put in the triage room and literally head the nurses in the hall TALK ABOUT CHECKING ME AFTER THEY GO TO LUNCH 🙃

I’m in bed breathless due to pain and thinking oh shit I’m just gonna be here contracting while the nurses leave.

Thankfully she decides to check me first. As she’s asking me questions (Am I allergic to anything, etc) I ask when I’d be able to get the epidural and she chuckles and says “well I have to make sure your actually in labor first.” Then she checks me and I’m at 7cm dilated already!!! 🤯🤯🤯😳

Next thing I know, they’re rushing me to get a room and start drawing labs and hanging fluids so that I’m able to get an epidural once I’m able to get 2 bags in me. The contractions were now SO painful and I had to wait 45min to get the epidural which ended up not working on my right side. I was literally in tears in pain 😤 My doctor came in and broke my water as soon as the anesthesiologist left the room and then there was almost no relief in between the pain. I waited another hour for the anesthesiologist to come back to try to fix the epidural and was then already dialated to a 8.5. Finally he came and fixed it and dosed me 3 times and my right side slowly started to go numb. Then my nurse left me in the room to fully dialate. By the time she came to check me, I spread my legs and she starts yelling for the doctor that she can see hair already. I was completely numb and had no idea it was time to push! I started pushing at 3:47 and my son was born 3 pushes later at 3:49pm. He came out screaming at 7lbs even 🥰 My man cut the cord and Santiago Cruz Alvarez was placed on my chest. He is perfect and I couldn’t be happier ❤️

Peep all the waters 😳^
