Anyone else have their child at the delivery?

Anyone else have their child present at delivery? (Birth centre) I think it would be an amazing experience for my daughter, but she is a little young and I don’t want it to feel at all traumatising for her.

I mean maybe birth is all rainbows and puppies sometimes... but would you really want your kid there if something bad happens? Talk about traumatic...

It's not allowed where I am and especially now with covid my daughter can't even come to meet the baby. 
I don't think I would choose to have my child there even if I could though. Just not for me.

I wouldn’t mind my 3 year old if I didn’t have anyone to bc watch her bc she is my best friend. Anytime I’m in pain or sad she always gets me out my funk

I’ve seen a lot of home births where they have their children (young and older) part of the experience but they also have someone there to watch after them and have them leave the room during times where the mom is in too much pain and it may scare the child.. so something to think about. Also double check with your birthing centers visitor policy because of COVID right now a lot of hospitals and birthing centers are only allowing one support person and no children.

My son was in the waiting room with a relative and came in about 15 minutes after birth, of course, it was a c-section so he couldnt have been there anyway, but I would've had it the same way if it was a vaginal birth. I wouldnt want anything to go wrong and him be scarred

My son was 5 when his little brother was born in 2019. We were planning on him being in the room however at the time my youngest was born it was during a measles outbreak so they only allowed 2 visitors at a time and my sister and my step mom wanted to be in there with me so he got kicked lol. However my dad, step mom, sister, brother in law and oldest son were all at the hospital in the waiting room from about 9pm till the next morning after my youngest was born at nearly 8am.

Umm a friend of mine told me how her sister-in-laws mother made her stay with her when her sister was born and it kinda scared her... she ended up in therapy, not just because of that. Mom was a wacko but that was one of the issues...

Yes I had my 11 year old sister, and I would have let my 9 year old sister but she was traveling with grandparents, she was great and help me, my mum and partner were also there.

As far as I know, they don’t allow kids in but I it might be different everywhere
