Too young...
This is my unpopular opinion of the decade apparently: 3 years old is too young to start school.
I just don’t understand how the school system has been advanced so much that a toddler needs two years of school just to start actual school. My child is social and a quick learner. I’m frustrated that with the intense doom of Covid coming back that if we have the option to not have her in school for a year because she’s only 3, we should be able to do that. But my opinion didn’t matter to my husband so that’s not what we are doing.
I know it’s the norm to do two years of school before kindergarten, I just don’t agree with it. I needed a place to rant safely even though I know I’ll probably get destroyed in the comments. Sorry.
Edit: We are in the Midwest US. I have been pushing not to put her in school since it was brought up when she was 2. My husband is a middle school teacher so whatever his coworkers are doing for their kids, he HAS to do it too. I have no pull with this unfortunately. Believe me, I’ve been trying. I normally can get through to him but not on this.
