Sleep training ?

Question

I’m not really wanting to “train” but how in the heck do I get my 2 1/2 yr old to sleep in his own bed in his room. He freaks out if he’s alone. He doesn’t just crawl into bed when it’s bedtime 🤦🏼‍♀️
We did have a sleep routine but I was hospitalized for a few weeks. my husband didn’t keep it while I was gone and when I came back it’s been hard to do much. I’m due again in February and I know he needs to be in his own room before then.

I’m sorry you were hospitalized and are now having to manage this on top of being pregnant. That’s tough! 
I’m a therapist and work with these types of issues with young kids. There is all sorts of stuff you can do, and you could even work with a therapist or sleep coach to creat a plan that works best for your family. But the bottom line is sticking to it and making him stay in his room. Of course that means lots tantrums, trying to escape from room, begging and pleading, the works. But if he can learn that all that doesn’t work to get what he wants, then it will significantly decrease (google extinction burst). The main thing is not giving in and having some really rough nights that will ultimately pay off.
