What’s the difference ?

My daughter wears size 6 but I keep seeing size 6 , 6x , and 6s what’s the difference? Aren’t they all the same ?

X= extra long
S= slim or short
And I assume the number just means average size

6x is just a size that’s between 6 and 7.   Like a 6.5 I guess.  Larger waist and length than a 6, smaller than a 7. I don’t think x sizing for children exists except for 6x. 
S (6s, 7s, 8s, etc) is almost always for ‘slim’ and usually only seen on pants where the waist and/or leg is a narrower cut but the length is the same as the non-slim size.
