Which is better for a C-section and why?

Had an emergency c-section my first pregnancy due to preeclampsia and organ failure. I have to have a C-section this time but the first time(with epidural) was pretty traumatic for me. But I also have a fear with being put under because I don't want to wake up and be told that something happened to my baby. I would do anything for a vaginal birth but it's far too risky. Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated

They do a spinal block. Epidurals aren't typically done for planned c sections.

I was progressing on my own but lost his heartbeat around 7cm. I had an epidural thankfully and ended up with an emergency c-section. Had I not had the epidural I would have been put under. This was an emergency though. They usually do a spinal for planned. My sister had 2 spinals.

I had baby in January and had the option to wait for c section and get the epidural but they said if it turned into an emergency c section I’d have to be put under anesthesia.. I wasn’t sure wat to do till one of the doctors sat with us and told us that if it turned into emergency c section there was no way in telling if the anesthesia would have an affect on the baby so decided to go with the epidural
