Tongue Tie

Clarissa • Married 9.2.17. Dog Mom. Aunt of 3. Teacher. Expecting Baby #1 on 8.22.20.

My baby boy was born with a lingual frenulum, or “tongue tie.” It’s when the skin under your tongue is long and tight, so he can’t stick his tongue out. Pic for reference.

There’s a small procedure that we could do to fix it, but he’s only 3 weeks old. The doctor said that it could cause problems with breast feeding, and I read that later it can cause speech problems and problems swallowing.

Recently my son has started latching shallow and not nursing for very long and requires formula supplement. I know that I’m not producing a ton (from pumping) but I’m wondering if this has anything to do with it.

If any of you guys have had experience with this, East did you do? Should I get the procedure or wait?
