Overstepping grandparents

There is no reason to get upset about my child’s grandmother caring about their wellbeing. It’s completely normal. I understand that she loves my children as well and wants to know they are safe and happy. I cannot be angry at something that is natural. It’s more than okay to love and care about your children’s children lol! However my issue comes into place when the grandparent oversteps. Please tell me if I am wrong. I am open ears.

If I’m taking my child to the dr and you know that I understand you’re going to want to know if everything went fine. Of course I’ll update you and say “Hey Jason’s appointment went great today. He’s healthy and there was no issues.” But that seems not to be enough. I get

“What did the dr say about this..”

“Did he cry about getting the shots”

“Was he overweight?”

“Is he cranky now?”

I feel like I shouldn’t have to discuss what the DR and I talk about. I will tell you everything is fine and dandy but all the details?

Also to show up and completely take over the appointment and not let me say a word to the dr absolutely makes me mad. Not to even tell me that you’re coming. You ask my husband at what time the appointment is and you just show up.

Another thing is understanding nothing compares to a mothers love. I don’t like being told that you feel like that is your son and the love I have for him is no different than the love you feel, and that I will never love my son more than you.

Excuse me?

I understand loving your grandchildren, but to tell the mother that her love will never compare to the grandmothers love?

I could go on and on about what she is doing currently, but I don’t have all night. I am pregnant and I could just be hormonal.

Rant over.

Question is how do you set boundaries without being disrespectful to your mother in law? How can you kindly let her know that way my husband and I (one team) will be standing strong and not let her come between our loving marriage? I’m at a loss.
