I bite my tongue ring at night??

So my boyfriend told me the past few nights I've been grinding my teeth really hard. I have a slight overbite and couldn't figure out how that's even possible cause my teeth are too jagged to grind like that. I started biting my tongue ring and asked if that's what it's sounded like.. It was.

So how do I stop biting my tongue ring at night?? I can't take it out every night and I don't have like a mouth guard?? or anything
