Is home security worth it? (Had something happen today)

I’m seriously considering a home security system after today. My LO and I were outside playing together. We NEVER let our kids out without us and stay right with them the whole time. Well my FIL was out in his yard a few houses down, so we started to walk that way. As we got halfway there, a car with two men nearly stopped at us and the guy said something, but I just kept walking to make it there quick and crossed the road. The crept slowly down our road and turned around and came back and slowed down at us. I have never been so scared in my life. I could just sense evil vibes idk. Well will ran into my FIL yard and they just stared but didn’t stop this time. Does a home security system make you any safer?? Idk what to do. Any input is appreciated.

I have a gun bc like my husband said a security system is going to do my much in the event some one actually wants to do harm 🤷🏼‍♀️cans and security systems just allow two sides to the story if you ultimately have to kill some one. Sounds crazy but makes sense if you have to kill some one for your and your family safety you don’t want any evidence to dispute your side of the story in a court room 😂if there is no evidence then it’s just speculation on their side lol

We have Blink cameras at our front door and back door, but we also have 2 German shepherds, a pistol, a shotgun, and an AR-15. We also live out in the middle of nowhere. Not much to worry about.

A home security system isn’t going to protect you from people in the street. We got one after we were broken into. Had we had one before, I truly believe the break in would have been prevented. We have cameras and ADT signs and stickers all over now, and I think those would have been a deterrent. However, you just never know. Criminals can be pretty determined, esp if drugs are involved and aren’t going to let anything stop them. We hardly even set ours, but our dogs are a pretty good deterrent as well.

Yes, we have the Ring security cameras at the door and backyard. You can look at the live feed and when someone is at the door/yard, you can speak through the microphone. It is connected to the WiFi but you can pretty much everything from anywhere. 
We have had multiple packages stolen and odd people standing around the door so it definitely makes me feel safer. Given your experience, I think would invest in a security system.
