39 weeks and high cervix

Had my first cervix check today. It hurt sooooo bad, I’m guessing because my Ob said my cervix is still very high and posterior. He could feel baby’s head, but didn’t even tell me if I was dilated/effaced because it was too much pain to check I think. I’ll be 39 weeks on Sunday and this is my first pregnancy. I’m just nervous why he hasn’t dropped yet. Has/did this happen to anyone else?
