My chest hurts

So I have shortness of breath that comes and goes. A scan last year showed nothing. I was given an inhaler and was released from ER. Anyways, the last couple of days my shortness of breath has been worse and accompanied with some chest pain. Not very extreme. As far as I know I haven't been in contact with anyone that has covid. These symptoms started a few days after the children came back to school (I work at a school) not sure if that is a coincidence or not. I made a doctor's appointment but because this is a covid symptom even though I had it for years, they will only do a telephone appointment. I am debating going to the hospital because I know I will be there all night and I have already missed two days of work. It is hard to sleep. I get scared that I am going to stop breathing.
