Hotdog for toddler?

He’s 21 months, eats whatever he wants pretty much. They say to not feed them to children until 3-5, but if I were to slice it, and then cut each slice into fourths, would that be okay? I want to mix it into his mac&cheese.

You just need to worry about how you cut them. It’s the shape of the O that gets caught in their throat. So as long as you cut into an O and then quarter them, babe should be fine. 
Also, I’d go with something like Hebrew National over a cheap hotdog with excess fillers. But that’s just me.

My 20mo gets full ones. He can grab, dunk in ketchup, and bites off what he can. 🤷 Bite size pieces in Mac and cheese are perfectly ok

Our son’s been eating hot dogs since he could chew. We just cut them to an appropriate size.

I really don’t think it’s a big deal. He should be fine. Just make sure you cut them up really well.

My son eats hot dogs sometimes and it’s always been cut into four, like you suggested.  We had an incident when he was about 8 months old that landed us in the children’s ER and at that time we were told the most common choking cases they see involve hot dogs.  So, even though he is 25 months now and I’m fairly confident he could handle eating it by himself without cutting it up, I will continue to cut it up for him.

If you cut it up into small bite size pieces it'll be fine. Hot dogs are a main source of protein for a lot of toddlers that I have met.

Hot dog is a processed meat with high amount of salt which is super unhealthy even for adults, not even for undeveloped digestive system of a toddler. If you care about your son’s health please don’t feed him this junk food. There are many healthy foods which are even cheaper than hot dogs.
