first holiday gift giving

so the holidays are coming fast(and hopefully 2021 even faster!) and im curious as to how to handle our family’s desire to get gifts for our LO(who will be 7 months by christmas).

We are a very minimalistic family and we find the most benefits thru montessori based toys and/or books. I dont want to be the gift police but i dont want to waste my extended family’s money.

How do i go about letting them know what to get without sounding rude? Or should i just let them find the joy in giving the gift and then pick and choose what to keep/donate later?
