Re-teach breastfeeding
This is a lengthy story, but I’ll try to condense with important details.
Last Monday, it was confirmed my milk supply was low (was suspicious of that for a week). Our son weighed under his birthweight and I was told to supplement. He’s 8 weeks this Friday.
Because I didn’t trust myself feeding him enough at the breast, I started pumping. I was only getting 1-1.5oz total per pump session. I told myself I’d go back to breastfeeding once my supply was up. I really thought it’d take 3-5 days, but here we are a week+ later and I would say it’s finally up!
My son has been exclusively bottle feeding for a week+ and anytime I try to put him to the breast, he fusses 😞 (my fault). And I hate having to waste that much energy just loathing our breast experience.
Is there any way to re-teach him to breastfeed? If not, I’ve come to terms that we’ll be a pumping family, but if there is any chance to get him back to breast, I’ll take it. Again, 8 weeks. Hoping there is some time to still learn.
