EBF and abscess?

Can I still breastfeed from my left side if I have a blocked duct and/or abscess? I’ve got a lump about 1/2 inch above my left nipple that hurts, and in the shower tonight when I squeezed it, it EXPLODED pus.

After my shower the lump is much smaller and the remaining bit seems to be more inflammation from messing with it rather than the painful pus situation it was earlier.

For the record I have had several staph infections in my life, and this is definitely not one of those. The lump didn’t get hard enough, nor was it anywhere near that pain threshold.

Baby has a shallow latch on that side anyway, but the lump is right about where his lip is during a feeding. I’m scared to let him eat on that side because I don’t want him swallowing any pus if the lump opens/drains while he’s eating, ya know? GROSS. But on the other hand, everything I have read says that’s not an issue and to keep feeding from that side.

Do I let him nurse on the left? Or pump and dump? TIA.
