Is something wrong with me?

I have a almost 3 year old and another child on the way. I’m not a touchy person at all. I don’t like being touched, kissed, etc. it makes me a little uncomfortable. My child is constantly touching me. I just don’t like it :( it’s constant kissing me all over and touching me and has to be all over me every second of the day and I can’t take it. I can’t take the constant touching. I’m working on myself with affection but I hate anyone touching me and I don’t know what to do :(

I understand that kids can be clingy my almost 2 yo is stuck to me like glue and it gets annoying at times when I have things to do but kids are tiny human beings they need to be shown love and affection we are their safety net and comfort I would suggest therapy to see why touch bothers you so much

You mentioned working on yourself with touch, which is positive, but I’d recommend working with a therapist about this if you’re not already. You are completely valid in your needs and boundaries but it sounds like there are so traumas related here. Toddlers are learning about bonds and affection and relationships from their parents, as it sounds like you’re well aware of. This doesn’t mean you can’t have boundaries and space, but I also think it’s important to see if you can get to a place of comfort with some affection.

Your 3 year old is old enough to understand consent. Teach him to ask before touching people and to respect when that person says no.

I know how you feel, I used to be a very touchy affectionate person but over the years I've gotten to be where I don't like being touched/messed with mainly by my husband but I'm sure once my son is a toddler I will have this problem as well. I just wanted to say I feel your pain.

I don’t mind the kisses and wanting to be in my lap or snuggled up to me BUT I specifically hate it when my little guy has his hands all over my face. So I understand where you’re coming from. It makes me feel like a monster for just saying “please stop touching mamas face.” We’re still working on it but I’ve just told him he can hold mamas hand, my neck or put his hands on my chest because I know all he wants to do is just hold me. I just calmly, but a little firmly, redirect him.

Now that my son is older I just explain to him that mama loves him but that I need him to go sit over there and play and not be in my lap. Or you can sit by mama but you can’t be in my lap/mushed up against me. He wasn’t cool with it at first but he came around.
 I just gritted my teeth for a long time but I realized that if drains any of my remaining physical affection for my husband so he was definitely being neglected.

I can understand that but just try to get used to it at least with your baby if no one else because he just loves you and kids are very affectionate people, I wouldn’t want to damage that

My husband is/ can be this way but he deals with it lol. I’m touchy and lovey and so are our 3 kids soOo I think the longer you deal with it the easier it is to become accustomed to it. If that makes sense?
