Mirena nightmare!! 😫

So I had my mirena placed when my daughter was about 10 weeks old. I never really felt like it was in the right spot and I could never feel the strings. So after about 2 months I called my obgyn office and spoke with a nurse. I informed her I couldn’t feel the strings and didn’t think it was in the right spot. She told me I was fine and that sometimes you can’t feel the strings. Oh and my actual obgyn isn’t the one who placed it to begin with bc she wasn’t available at that time. Any way, so all of this was at the end of 2018. I started having regular periods and didn’t think anything about it bc duh I had an iud so of course I couldn’t get pregnant. Well I go for my yearly checkup with my obgyn, which I had put off for a while, in august of 2020. I asked her to check my iud bc I couldn’t feel the strings and explained to her that I had regular period for about 18 months. She couldn’t see or feel my iud! 😩. So she sent me to get an ultrasound right then. The ultrasound tech couldn’t see it either! So then I was sent to the hospital to have an X-ray of my stomach! Guess what... they finally found it... in my gut! My obgyn couldn’t pinpoint exactly where it was so she basically had to go in and do exploratory surgery to find it! It ended up being stuck in a fat pocket beside my COLON!! So she removed it of course! But now my insurance didn’t cover but $1200 of the cost of the surgery and I’m stuck with a $23,000 bill for something that was placed wrong! 🙄 needless to say I do not recommend getting the mirena!!
