Nipple confusion?

I am breast feeding. My baby is 2 weeks old now. The pediatrician told me to wait until he’s 3-4 weeks to make sure he has fully established breast feeding before giving a paci. He does good with breast feeding and now he’s began using me as a paci. He constantly needs to be latched on and he has started chewing on my nipple. My poor nipples are so sore and it hurts so bad when he feeds. I’ve had to start giving a bottle once every other day just to give my nipples a break. The bottle hasn’t seemed to cause any confusion. Do you think the paci would? How soon did you give your breast fed baby a paci? This is my first baby so I’m just not sure what’s best when it comes to this! I definitely don’t want to mess anything up and have to switch to formula and a bottle because I started a paci too soon. But I have some people say nipple confusion isn’t a thing, and then some who say it is. Please help!
