Flu shot??

This is my first baby so I am very questionable on a lot of things including the flu shot. I had my anatomy scan yesterday, and the doctor asked me if I received the shot yet. She said that it’s a good thing and that the baby receives it as well and then it helps him since she said he won’t be able to be vaccinated for the flu until he’s 6 months. I don’t know if I sound crazy for being nervous about it but I am definitely nervous and just want to be on the safe side that it is ok for the baby. What are your opinions on the shot and have you received it while pregnant?

Im waiting to take it in the third trimester so that baby is also vaccinated against it.
Its safe and recommended since baby has a weaker immune system.

I get it each time I’m pregnant. It is good for you to get it bc doc is right, immunity gets passed to the baby, and after birth they cannot get a flu shot right away.

I am 💯 for vaccination during pregnancy. Flu shot and TDaP. Your baby needs those antibodies for protection before he/she can be vaccinated. Getting the TDaP protects baby from whooping cough before their first Dtap (kid version of TDaP) at 8 weeks. I had no side effects or issues with either vaccine. Absolutely gave me peace of mind. Docs wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't safe. 👍

I’ve never had a flu shot in my life. My son was a January, 2020 baby and he has been perfectly fine. I was asked at his pediatrician appointments recently if I would like it for him and I’ve declined. I am also not getting it this pregnancy either.

As with any vaccination it’s always a personal decision but I encourage you to do your own reputable research along with a discussion with your doctor. I got my flu shot along with my husband and 3 year old, it was a decision we made for our growing family.

I always get the flu shot, and being pregnant is no exception. My dr recommends it and also the TDAP in the 3rd trimester.

I was hesitant too. I didn’t get it during the first trimester; I wanted until 16 weeks. Both my midwife and pharmacist reassured me that it was okay. Other than soreness for the rest of the day, everything was fine.

I got it while pregnant for both of mine and will do it again for my third. My second baby got the flu at 5 and 1/2 months old. Two weeks from being able to get the flu shot himself and it was scary. He lost so much weight and barely ate for a week. I had to bottle feed not breastfeed because he was too weak. He struggled to breathe and needed to go to hospital for a few days with oxygen.

I get my flu shot every October, and I had just found out expecting about two weeks before I got this past season’s shot. The flu shot is one I personally never doubted to take, and I was 6-7weeks pregnant. (And also FTM)
I do recommend getting the flu shot, and always good to discuss any concerns with your Dr :) 
I didn’t react any differently than normal, so just as if I wasn’t pregnant getting it.
You do have to tell the pharmacist that you’re pregnant though so that you receive the appropriate shot.
