Trying to start bottle feeding more but have a lot of questions about pumping and supply

If my baby eats 3 oz 8 x a day but I'm pumping 5 oz each time, can I just pump 5x a day then still I'll still have plenty to feed him? Or should I still be pumping for each 8 feedings?
